The St. James the Apostle Children’s Liturgy is a mass geared especially for children which allows them to actively participate in several ways throughout the mass.
This very special liturgy is held on the third Saturday of every month @ 5:15 at St. James the Apostle Church unless otherwise posted. Children in grades 5-8 are invited to proclaim the word by being lectors, reading the introduction, the first and second readings and the prayer of the faithful (3 children read at each mass). Children in grades 2-4 can serve as gift bearers and help with distributing the bulletins. It is truly precious to watch these children take such an active role in their faith. Accompanied by the Youth Choir, led by Mary Peters, these liturgies uplift the spirits of the children and the entire congregation.
If you think your child would like to become a reader, gift bearer, etc., simply complete the attached form and return it to the Parish Office to the attention of Maura Crawford.
We will then place your child on our list for the 2009-2010 season. If your child is called and is available to read, your only responsibility is to pick up the readings at the Parish Office ( which will be available the weekend before ) and have your child practice the reading at home during that week.
Readers should be dressed appropriately and should report to the sacristy AT LEAST 15 MINUTES before the mass.
